Friends in General is the community-based non-profit organization that works to support all the entities under the Metropolitan Nashville Hospital Authority which includes Nashville General Hospital, Bordeaux Long-Term Care, Knowles Assisted Living and Adult Day Care Services and The Center for Lifestyle and Health Management. Since its formation in 1988, Friends in General has secured grants from numerous organizations and foundations. The city supplement only pays a portion of the actual costs of patient care so Friends in General helps make up the difference. The Hospital Authority relies on Friends in General for donor and grant support to meet the healthcare needs of uninsured and underinsured patients.
